This bow is so stinkin’ easy even your grandma’s grandma can do it. Go gather a bolt of ribbon and a pair of scissors because that’s all you need!
Keep the ribbon on the bolt for now. Take the end of the ribbon and lay it across your first two fingers. Leave some length on the ribbon because this will be your first tail.
Now wrap the ribbon around the back of your first finger, and then on top of your second finger, like you’re weaving.
Now pull the ribbon up and go over top your first finger again (thus, the ‘weave’).
Now this is important! Bring the ribbon down and leave it BEHIND your second finger…. no more weaving!
Grab your scissors, and leaving a good length of ribbon to work with, cut the ribbon free from the bolt. This end will be your second tail.
Now take the end of that piece, and tuck it between your two fingers, in the small space where your fingers attach to your hand. I leave my thumb tucked in under the ribbon because we’ll be going there next.
This step is important! Gently pull that ribbon toward you…
And then tuck it under that little loop that your thumb was holding open,
Pull the ribbon through….
And then pull it ALL THE WAY to the left (not the right!). Give it a little tug. This will tighten the knot.
Then pull it all the way to the right. Repeat tugging left and right a couple more times to secure the knot in the bow. Don’t worry if it doesn’t look like much right now.
Now this is literally the hardest part. Gently pull the loops off your fingers.
Now you can trim up the tails to your bow. Cut them on an angle, or fold the ribbon in half and cut on an angle for a more detailed look.
And voila! You just made a double bow and will now be the envy of all your family and friends. 🙂
